If I lived before the Internet, I'd be that crazy old lady who sends newspaper clippings to everybody. As it is, I have a Tumblr instead.

Miranda July’s Ideas for Future Movies and Projects, as excerpted from her Moleskine notebook

celesterstallone:

Movie idea: A coat check girl who works at the Museum of Thoughts falls in love with a brother and also his sister. She seeks advice from her telepathic ikat pillow. Potential title: I Think Ikat

Everyone Draws Their Own Bellybutton.

Neighborhood gardens where the flowers aren’t real, but instead are drawings of flowers. All of the flowers are sunflowers. Except for one bashful peony.

Locket Mailing Program - Mail a picture of yourself with a drop of your own saliva in a locket to a stranger. That stranger mails a picture of themselves to another stranger, and so on until the world falls in and out of love with itself.

Glue a nose and googley eyes on tumbleweed. Call it Mr. Tumbleweed. Send it to the hopeful via hot air balloon because what are all of us except for weeds that are just trying to get someplace?

Movie idea: A man who designs life jackets for small birds receives anonymous emails from a dowager who lives on the same cul-de-sac. He later discovers the dowager is just a sunflower in an overcoat.

Each to His Own and To Her Own and Also To the Owns of Others (potential title for a short story collection?)

A stop-motion film wherein the characters are used Kleenexes that contain the sneezes of bisexual teenage virgins, because even what is used was once not used- it’s the memory of being not used that propels us to make love.

Reminder: record your sneezes to later play back over GIFS of shooting stars.

A story about a one eyed girl whose one good eye is a sunflower.

Worlds Biggest Game of Tummy Haha: It’s that game where you lie on another person’s stomach and then laugh in succession until everyone is laughing because isn’t it funny that we’re all just people lying on each others stomachs and feeling the laughter of each other as everyone comes to that realization?

This is the greatest thing ever.
